FAQs | JEE Advanced 2026
Who is eligible for JEE Advanced 2026?+
Only top 2,50,000 candidates who qualify JEE Main 2026 are eligible for JEE Advanced. Additionally, candidates must have appeared in Class 12 (or equivalent) for the first time in 2024 or 2026. Maximum 2 attempts allowed in consecutive years.
What is the JEE Advanced 2026 exam date?+
JEE Advanced 2026 is scheduled for May 18, 2026 (Sunday). Paper 1 is held in the morning and Paper 2 in the afternoon. Both papers must be attempted | appearing in only one paper leads to disqualification.
How is JEE Advanced different from JEE Main?+
JEE Main qualifies students for NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. JEE Advanced is specifically for IIT admissions. JEE Advanced has a more complex question pattern with integer-type, match-the-column, and paragraph-based questions. It is significantly harder than JEE Main.
What rank is needed to get into an IIT?+
To get into any IIT in any branch, you typically need AIR under 15,000 in JEE Advanced (General category). For top IIT CSE branches, AIR under 100 is needed. For reserved categories (OBC/SC/ST), proportionally lower ranks are sufficient.
