BTech Admission Process in Telangana 2026 – Complete Guide

Engineering admissions in Telangana operate through multiple parallel pathways depending on the institution. Understanding which exam applies to which college is critical to avoid wasted preparation time.

TS EAMCET 2026 – For State Engineering Colleges

The Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) is the state-level admission gateway for the majority of engineering colleges in Telangana. Conducted by JNTUH on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), TS EAMCET 2026 was held on May 9–11, 2026. Over 2 lakh candidates typically appear annually. Counselling is conducted at tgeapcet.nic.in.

TS EAMCET tests Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Class 12 level. Marks are calculated on a combined basis using TS EAMCET score (75% weight) and Intermediate (Class 12) marks (25% weight). Telangana-domicile students (Hyderabad Karnataka region, etc.) are eligible for state quota seats.

JEE Main 2026 – For NIT Warangal

NIT Warangal admits BTech students exclusively through JEE Main (conducted by NTA) via the JoSAA counselling process. NIT Warangal offers 50% seats under Home State (Telangana/Andhra Pradesh combined) quota, giving local students a significant advantage. For Telangana-domicile students, the JEE Main cutoff for CSE at NIT Warangal is typically around the 99.3–99.6 percentile.

JEE Advanced 2026 – For IIT Hyderabad

Admission to IIT Hyderabad requires clearing JEE Advanced | among the most competitive exams in the world. Only the top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualifiers are eligible. IIT Hyderabad's BTech CSE AIR cutoff for General category is typically in the range of AIR 2,000–4,000, though this varies by year and specialisation.

BITSAT 2026 – For BITS Hyderabad

BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus admits students through BITSAT (BITS Pilani Aptitude Test), a computer-based test of 130 questions in 3 hours covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English Proficiency. A BITSAT score of 340–360+ out of 390 is typically required for CSE at BITS Hyderabad.

UGEE – For IIIT Hyderabad

IIIT Hyderabad conducts its own Undergraduate Entrance Exam (UGEE) for BTech/Dual Degree admissions. The test is two-part: a board-merit-based shortlist followed by a written test in Mathematics and aptitude. A small number of seats are also available via JEE Main ranks.
