How to read NIT Kurukshetra placement numbers
Placement pages often mix batch years, offers and students, and that is how wrong numbers spread. NIT Kurukshetra's Training and Placement Cell reports by graduating batch. The 2024-25 report covers the B.Tech batch of 2021-25, so "placements 2025" on this page means students who graduated in 2025. Five terms decide how to interpret every table below.
- Eligible. The base the cell reports for each programme. The PDF does not explain exactly how "eligible" is defined, so treat it as the cell's own denominator.
- Offers and placed. One student can hold several offers. In 2024-25 there were 744 offers for 676 placed students, about 1.10 offers per placed student. Information Technology even shows 143 offers for 129 eligible students.
- Placement percentage. Placed divided by eligible. For B.Tech that is 676 ÷ 787 = 85.90%.
- Median and average. The median is the middle package when all placed students are lined up, so a handful of huge offers cannot move it. The average can be pulled up sharply. In Computer Engineering the average is ₹16.38 LPA but the median is ₹12.00 LPA.
- Range. The lowest and highest package among placed students in that programme.
The report does not say whether packages are cost-to-company, fixed pay or include variable pay and stock. It also does not break down domestic and international offers. Ask the Training and Placement Cell before comparing any single offer with another college's number.

What changed, branch by branch
| Branch | % placed | Median (₹ LPA) | Average (₹ LPA) | Average change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | 78.21% → 88.14% | 11.80 → 12.00 | 17.63 → 16.38 | -7.1% |
| Information Technology | 87.04% → 96.12% | 12.82 → 12.00 | 16.75 → 18.19 | +8.6% |
| Electronics & Communication Engg. | 71.21% → 84.48% | 10.00 → 12.00 | 14.09 → 14.27 | +1.3% |

| Total (B.Tech) | 75.16% → 85.90% | 9.00 → 10.00 | 12.68 → 13.21 | +4.2% |
The pattern is consistent. The median did not fall in any branch except Information Technology (₹12.82 to ₹12.00 LPA), and placement percentage rose in every branch except Mechanical (86.00% to 83.05%). Be careful when reading branch-level changes, because the number of eligible students changed a lot. Computer Engineering went from 78 to 177 eligible students, so the two years are not like-for-like cohorts.
NIT Kurukshetra CSE average package and placements
The NIT Kurukshetra CSE average package was ₹16.38 LPA in 2024-25, with a median of ₹12.00 LPA. 156 of 177 eligible Computer Engineering students were placed (88.14%) on 166 offers, and packages ran from ₹6.50 LPA to ₹63.12 LPA.
In 2023-24 the CSE average was ₹17.63 LPA and the median ₹11.80 LPA, with 61 of 78 students placed (78.21%) and a range of ₹3.60 to ₹64.28 LPA. So the average fell 7.1% while the median edged up and the lowest package rose from ₹3.60 to ₹6.50 LPA. The cohort more than doubled over the same period (78 to 177 eligible students), so a wider spread of students is one possible reason for the lower average, although the report does not explain it.
If you are asking "how is NIT Kurukshetra CSE", the honest answer from the data is that the typical student earns about ₹12 LPA and nearly nine in ten eligible students get an offer. The headline ₹63.12 LPA is an outlier and should not be your expectation. The report does not say which roles or companies sit behind each number, so judge CSE on the median and the placement percentage.
NIT Kurukshetra IT placements and average package
Information Technology had the highest average package of any B.Tech branch in 2024-25: ₹18.19 LPA, with a median of ₹12.00 LPA. 124 of 129 eligible students were placed, which is 96.12%, the best placement percentage in the college.
IT reported 143 offers for 129 eligible students, so many students held more than one offer. The range was ₹6.00 to ₹63.12 LPA. In 2023-24 the IT average was ₹16.75 LPA, the median ₹12.82 LPA and 94 of 108 students were placed (87.04%). The average therefore rose 8.6% while the median slipped by ₹0.82 lakh. In 2023-24 CSE had the higher average; in 2024-25 IT overtook it. For students who do not get CSE, IT is a strong option on these numbers.
NIT Kurukshetra ECE average package and ECE placements
The NIT Kurukshetra ECE average package was ₹14.27 LPA in 2024-25, with a median of ₹12.00 LPA. 98 of 116 eligible students were placed (84.48%), and the highest ECE package was ₹52.00 LPA.
ECE improved the most of the three high-demand branches. In 2023-24 the average was ₹14.09 LPA, the median ₹10.00 LPA and 94 of 132 students were placed (71.21%). The median therefore rose ₹2.00 lakh and the placement percentage by 13.27 points. The top ECE offers were ₹51.00 LPA in 2023-24 and ₹52.00 LPA in 2024-25.
Students often ask about the drawbacks of ECE at NIT Kurukshetra. The data shows a branch that swings with the market, since its placement percentage was 71% one year and 84% the next, and one whose average sits about ₹2 lakh below CSE. What the report cannot tell you is the split between core electronics, semiconductor and software roles. If you want a core electronics career, ask the placement cell for that split before choosing the branch, and look at the M.Tech VLSI and Embedded results below, which are far stronger on package.
Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Production placements
The core branches earn less than the computing branches but still show improvement in 2024-25.
Mechanical engineering placements
Mechanical had 118 eligible students, 111 offers and 98 placed (83.05%) in 2024-25, with a median of ₹8.50 LPA, an average of ₹10.03 LPA and a range of ₹4.68 to ₹52.00 LPA. The 2023-24 numbers were a median of ₹7.50 LPA, an average of ₹8.23 LPA, a range of ₹3.50 to ₹17.00 LPA and 129 of 150 placed (86.00%). The average rose 21.9%, helped by a top offer far above the previous year's. The median, which is steadier, rose by ₹1.00 lakh.
Civil engineering placements
Civil had 83 eligible students and 68 placed (81.93%) in 2024-25, with a median of ₹7.19 LPA, an average of ₹7.63 LPA and a range of ₹4.50 to ₹11.40 LPA. In 2023-24, 74 of 116 were placed (63.79%) with a median of ₹6.85 LPA and an average of ₹7.88 LPA. Placement percentage rose 18.14 points, but the average slipped and the top offer fell from ₹26.64 to ₹11.40 LPA. Civil is the lowest-paying branch in both reports.
Electrical engineering placements
Electrical had 87 of 110 eligible students placed (79.09%) in 2024-25, with a median of ₹10.00 LPA, an average of ₹10.92 LPA and a range of ₹5.00 to ₹29.64 LPA. In 2023-24 it was 85 of 123 (69.11%), median ₹8.75 LPA and average ₹10.49 LPA. Electrical sits between the computing branches and the other core branches.
Production and industrial engineering placements
Production and Industrial Engineering had 45 of 54 eligible students placed (83.33%) in 2024-25, with a median of ₹8.40 LPA, an average of ₹9.03 LPA and a range of ₹4.20 to ₹16.50 LPA. In 2023-24, 53 of 78 were placed (67.95%) with a median of ₹7.50 LPA and an average of ₹8.77 LPA.
NIT Kurukshetra highest package
The highest B.Tech package in the official 2024-25 report is ₹63.12 LPA, listed under both Computer Engineering and Information Technology. In 2023-24 the highest was ₹64.28 LPA, listed under Computer Engineering.
| Group | 2023-24 | 2024-25 |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech overall | 64.28 | 63.12 |
| Computer Engineering | 64.28 | 63.12 |
| Information Technology | 52.75 | 63.12 |
| ECE | 51.00 | 52.00 |
| Mechanical | 17.00 | 52.00 |
| Electrical | 36.42 | 29.64 |
| Civil | 26.64 | 11.40 |
| Production & Industrial | 17.73 | 16.50 |
| Postgraduate overall | 38.87 | 44.74 |
Two cautions apply. First, the same top figure appears under several programmes in each report, for example ₹63.12 LPA under both CSE and IT and ₹44.74 LPA under several M.Tech programmes, and the PDF does not explain why. Second, a single outlier says nothing about what a typical student receives. Use the median for planning and treat the maximum as a ceiling that very few reach.
About the reported ₹1.56 crore offer. A June 2026 article on Campusutra reports a ₹1.56 crore offer to a student of the 2026 batch. It names no company or branch and cites no official source, and we could not find the figure in any NIT Kurukshetra document. We therefore do not count it in any table. If the institute publishes a 2025-26 report, this page will be updated.
NIT Kurukshetra M.Tech placements
Postgraduate placement works differently from B.Tech. In 2024-25 there were 337 eligible postgraduate students, 156 offers and 173 internships. Fifty-four students received pre-placement offers (PPOs) after internships, so the report counts 205 placed in total: 151 through offers and 54 through PPOs. That is 60.8% of eligible students by our calculation, compared with 247 of 385 (64.2%) in 2023-24. The overall postgraduate median was ₹8.44 LPA and the average ₹11.56 LPA, against ₹9.01 and ₹11.19 LPA the year before.

NIT Kurukshetra VLSI placement
M.Tech VLSI Design had a median package of ₹18.41 LPA and an average of ₹21.05 LPA in 2024-25. Of 47 eligible students, 27 were placed (about 57%): 9 through offers and 18 through pre-placement offers. Forty students completed internships.
In 2023-24 VLSI placed 33 of 39 students (about 85%) with a median of ₹22.80 LPA and an average of ₹25.02 LPA. The median fell about 19% and the share placed dropped while the cohort grew. Even so, VLSI and Embedded System Design remain the highest-paying postgraduate programmes in both reports.
| Programme | Placed / eligible 2024-25 | Placed / eligible 2023-24 | Median / average 2024-25 (₹ LPA) | Median / average 2023-24 (₹ LPA) |

M.Tech computer, cyber security and civil specialisations
M.Tech Computer Engineering had a median of ₹12.50 LPA in 2024-25, with 21 of 37 students placed (about 57%), and Cyber Security had a median of ₹12.00 LPA with 16 of 25 placed (64%). Civil specialisations were lower: Structural Engineering had a median of ₹6.38 LPA with 15 of 19 placed, and Transportation Engineering ₹5.50 LPA. Some programmes enrolled only a handful of students, so a single offer can swing the percentage. M.Tech ECE had one placed student at ₹25.00 LPA, which is too small a sample to read as a trend.
M.Tech admission at NITs generally runs through GATE-based counselling. Confirm the current process in the institute's admission brochure. Postgraduate "placed" counts include PPOs, so the pipeline starts with a good internship.
NIT Kurukshetra MBA and MCA placements
MBA placements
In 2024-25, 22 of 32 eligible MBA students were placed (68.75%), with a median of ₹6.50 LPA and an average of ₹7.52 LPA. Packages ranged from ₹4.50 to ₹16.42 LPA.
In 2023-24, 22 of 38 students were placed (57.89%) with a median of ₹6.00 LPA, an average of ₹5.90 LPA and a range of ₹3.00 to ₹8.50 LPA. The average therefore rose 27.5%, and the top offer almost doubled. When you weigh fees against the MBA, use the median of about ₹6 to ₹6.5 LPA rather than the top offer.
MCA placements and average package
The NIT Kurukshetra MCA average package was ₹9.81 LPA in 2024-25, with a median of ₹8.50 LPA. 70 of 90 eligible students were placed (77.78%) on 74 offers, and packages ranged from ₹4.20 to ₹29.16 LPA.
In 2023-24, 80 of 91 students were placed (87.91%) with a median of ₹10.00 LPA and an average of ₹9.71 LPA. The MCA is one of the biggest postgraduate cohorts, so its numbers are more stable than those of the small M.Tech programmes. If you are wondering about a career after MCA from NIT Kurukshetra, the report shows a typical starting package of about ₹8.5 to ₹10 LPA. Common entry roles for MCA graduates in the industry are software development, testing and data roles, but that is a general pattern and not something the report states.
M.Sc. placements
The M.Sc. programmes are small. In 2024-25 Mathematics placed 4 of 9 students (median ₹6.13 LPA), Physics 1 of 7 (₹12.00 LPA) and Chemistry 1 of 6 (₹6.50 LPA). Treat these as indicative only.
NIT Kurukshetra placement companies and recruiters
The official reports do not name recruiting companies and do not give package figures per company. The recruiters below are compiled from third-party placement pages (Cracku, CollegeDekho, Careers360 and PW) and are indicative, because those lists mix years and do not say which year each company visited. One aggregator reports 257 companies visiting in 2023-24, but that count is not in the official PDF.

If you are searching for a specific package such as an Accenture package at NIT Kurukshetra, be sceptical of any exact figure. Company offers are not published by the institute, and the numbers you see online usually come from student posts. The branch median in the tables above is a more reliable guide to what the typical recruiter pays.
NIT Kurukshetra placement cell and how placements work
Placements are run by the institute's Training and Placement Cell, which invites companies, schedules tests and interviews, and publishes the yearly statistics PDFs used on this page. The cell's contact details and notices are on nitkkr.ac.in. Because phone numbers and emails change, take them from the official site rather than a third-party page.
The steps below describe how campus placements generally work at NITs. They are not an official NIT Kurukshetra schedule, so confirm dates with the cell.
- Registration. Students register with the placement cell and meet the eligibility conditions set by each company, such as a minimum CGPA or no active backlogs.
- Pre-placement talks and tests. Companies present their roles and run an online test covering aptitude, coding or domain skills.
- Interviews. Shortlisted students go through technical and HR rounds, sometimes with group discussions.
- Offers. Students can hold more than one offer, which is why offers exceed students placed in the report.
- Internships and PPOs. A good internship can convert into a pre-placement offer. The 2024-25 postgraduate data shows 173 internships and 54 PPOs.

Paying for NIT Kurukshetra: education loans and return on investment
Placement numbers matter most when you compare them with what the degree costs. Fees at NITs are set by the institute and revised from time to time, so use the current fee notice on the official website. B.Tech seats are filled through JoSAA counselling on JEE Main ranks, and students who need financial support can look at bank education loans and government schemes.
The government's education-loan portal is Vidya Lakshmi, where you can compare and apply to several banks. Interest-subsidy and guarantee schemes exist for eligible families, but their limits and conditions change, so check the current terms on the portal. Merit and category scholarships can also reduce what you borrow. See our guides to merit scholarships and AICTE Pragati for girl students.
The calculator below turns a loan into a monthly EMI and compares it with the gross monthly median package of a branch. The default numbers are only examples, so enter your bank's amount, rate and tenure.
Education loan EMI vs branch median salary
Estimate only. It ignores moratorium interest during the course, processing fees, taxes and the difference between gross and take-home pay. Ask your bank for the exact schedule.
NIT Kurukshetra placements: pros and cons
👍 Pros
- 85.90% of eligible B.Tech students placed in 2024-25
- CSE, IT and ECE medians of ₹12 LPA
- Offers up 23.2% year over year
- Placement percentage rose in six of seven branches
- Strong postgraduate pay in VLSI and Embedded Systems
- Internships and PPOs feed postgraduate placement
- Official reports are published with full branch tables
👎 Cons
- Large pay gap: CSE median ₹12.00 LPA vs Civil ₹7.19 LPA
- Averages are inflated by a few top offers
- Postgraduate placed share is about 61%
- No company-wise or role-wise data in the reports
- Small programmes make yearly figures volatile
- Cohort sizes changed, so year comparisons are not like for like
- No 2025-26 official report available yet
Which branch should you choose at NIT Kurukshetra?
Use the table to match branch data with what you want. The columns are facts from the 2024-25 report, while the last two are editorial guidance.
| Branch | Median (₹ LPA) | % placed | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Information Technology | 12.00 | 96.12% | Highest placement rate and highest average | Median fell from ₹12.82 LPA in 2023-24 |
| Computer Engineering | 12.00 | 88.14% | Top median and the highest offers | Average fell from ₹17.63 LPA as the cohort grew |
| ECE | 12.00 | 84.48% | Median equal to CSE, with a path to VLSI | Placement rate swung from 71% to 84% |
| Electrical | 10.00 | 79.09% | Balanced pay with core and software options | Lowest placement rate of the seven branches |
| Mechanical | 8.50 | 83.05% | Core industry roles | Average depends on a few high offers |
| Production & Industrial | 8.40 | 83.33% | Manufacturing and operations roles | Small cohort, lower ceiling |
| Civil | 7.19 | 81.93% | Construction, infrastructure and government roles | Lowest median and average |
A simple rule from the data: if your rank allows CSE, IT or ECE, the medians are close to each other, so choose on interest and not on a ₹1 to ₹2 lakh gap in the average. If you get a core branch, plan early for internships and skills outside the syllabus, because the median is ₹3 to ₹5 lakh lower than the computing branches.
Why NIT Kurukshetra placement numbers differ across websites
While preparing this page we compared several popular placement pages with the official reports. These are the most common problems we found, so you can spot them elsewhere.
| What a third-party page shows | What the official report says | What went wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Average ₹12.68 LPA presented as the 2025 figure | The 2024-25 average is ₹13.21 LPA; ₹12.68 LPA is the 2023-24 average | A previous year's number under a new heading |
| Civil highest package ₹11.50 LPA | ₹11.40 LPA in 2024-25 | Rounding or transcription |
| About 664 B.Tech students placed in 2025 | 676 placed | Out-of-date or approximate count |
| M.Tech table headed 2024 | The numbers match the 2022-23 cycle | Old data under a newer title |
| Student reviews quoting packages of about ₹1 crore | The highest official packages are ₹64.28 LPA (2023-24) and ₹63.12 LPA (2024-25) | Unverified reviews presented as data |
| ₹1.56 crore offer for 2026 | Not in any official document we could access | Single unsourced report |
| One page lists a 2022-23 median of ₹11.07 LPA, another ₹11.70 LPA | We did not use 2022-23 because we could not verify it | Sources disagree |
The reliable approach is simple. Check the batch year, check whether the figure is the median or the average, and confirm it against the Training and Placement Cell's PDF. That is what we did for every number here.
Comparing NIT Kurukshetra with other colleges
Many searches compare NIT Kurukshetra with another college, for example an ECE seat here against a CSE seat at a newer institute. The numbers on this page cannot answer that on their own, because other colleges publish different measures. Compare like with like using this checklist.
- Use the median for both colleges, not the average or the highest.
- Compare the placement percentage and check how each college defines eligible students.
- Make sure both figures are for the same batch year.
- Look at the branch you would actually get, not the college-wide number.
- Check whether packages include variable pay, stock or international offers.
NIT KKR is not NITK. NIT KKR means NIT Kurukshetra in Haryana. NITK usually refers to NIT Karnataka, Surathkal. Their placement data are separate. See our pages for NIT Surathkal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, NIT Calicut and NIT Durgapur, or browse the top engineering colleges in India.
How to prepare for NIT Kurukshetra placements
Placement results reward preparation that starts early. The timeline below is general advice for any NIT student.
- Before admissionShortlist branches using medians and placement percentages, not averages. Use JoSAA counselling to compare options.
- Year 1Learn programming fundamentals and build a habit of solving problems regularly. Keep your CGPA healthy, since many companies set cut-offs.
- Year 2Practise data structures and algorithms, take on small projects and join technical clubs.
- Year 3Aim for an internship. At NIT Kurukshetra, internships feed pre-placement offers, especially at postgraduate level.
- Year 4Prepare aptitude, coding and interviews, update your resume and attend company talks.
Students who want to go beyond placement can prepare for GATE for M.Tech and PSU routes. You can also explore other entrance exams and courses on this site.
NIT Kurukshetra placement brochure and official reports
The institute publishes yearly placement statistics as PDFs. These are the documents we used, and the closest thing to a placement brochure with verified numbers.
- Placement Statistics, Academic Session 2024-25 (PDF): B.Tech batch 2021-25; M.Tech and MBA 2023-25; MCA 2022-25.
- Placement Statistics, Academic Session 2023-24 (PDF): B.Tech batch 2020-24; M.Tech and MBA 2022-24; MCA 2021-24.
Older reports for earlier sessions are also hosted on nitkkr.ac.in. We use only the two most recent here, so that every year-over-year comparison is verified against a primary source.

Sources and how this page was prepared
This page was prepared on 26 October 2026. We took every number from the Training and Placement Cell's two latest official reports, checked that the branch rows add up to the published totals (for example 787 eligible, 744 offers and 676 placed for B.Tech 2024-25), and calculated all percentages and changes ourselves from those figures. Third-party pages were used only to identify common errors, recruiter names and the unverified ₹1.56 crore claim, and they are labelled where they appear. The data are official, but interpretation and editorial comments are ours.
